Knitwire Trading (PTY) Ltd manufactures and supplies ClearMesh, a knitted wire mesh specifically developed for aviaries, animal enclosures, and humane pest exclusion. ClearMesh provides a combination of strength, safety, and near-invisible appearance, making it ideal for both indoor and outdoor installations.

ClearMesh is widely used by private customers, breeders, wildlife facilities, zoos, and sanctuaries, offering long-term protection while maintaining excellent visibility.

ClearMesh is designed to safely house birds, small mammals, and selected reptile species. The fine knitted loop structure prevents injury, reduces snagging, and avoids sharp edges commonly associated with welded wire mesh.

Stainless steel ClearMesh is completely safe for birds and animals. Unlike galvanised mesh, it does not carry a risk of zinc exposure, which can be harmful if ingested.

The knitted construction makes ClearMesh lightweight, flexible, and easy to handle. Mesh can be cut, shaped, and formed to suit almost any enclosure design.

Installation methods typically include:

• Stapling to timber frames
• Tying or clipping to metal frameworks

ClearMesh is suitable for DIY installations as well as professional enclosure construction.

The fine wire diameter and knitted looping pattern result in a mesh that is barely visible from normal viewing distances, providing clear sightlines into enclosures and a natural appearance.

If increased visual contrast is required, the mesh can be painted black or green after installation. Recoating may be required periodically depending on environmental exposure.

ClearMesh is most commonly produced from:

• Stainless steel grade 304
• Stainless steel grade 316 for coastal or high-salinity environments

Other materials may be available on request for specialist applications.

Wire diameters and mesh densities can be adjusted to suit different animal sizes and enclosure requirements.

ClearMesh is supplied in roll form or as fabricated panels. The maximum standard roll width is 1.2 metres, with lengths manufactured to suit customer requirements.

Custom panel sizes and edge finishing options can be provided.
